Please be sure to read all explanatory information for each list below.Also note:

1. Each resource is linked to its own website (first column) as well as to our Common Core Project (last column) when relevant;

2. The second column of each chart indicates an estimated age range for which the company provides the materials.

Independent Only:

These resources are wholly independent of common core. That means they "have not changed anything in regards to the CCS/NGSS/C3 and intend to remain independent of the initiative. They may or may not know of ways in which their materials happen to somehow match some aspects of the CCS/NGSS/C3, but they do not promote any ancillary connections."

If the last column includes a hyperlink, that means there is an explanatory note about the resource on the Common Core Project. Readers should be sure to check that information.

Correlated:

These resources are correlated to common core. "Correlated providers did not make content changes in order to become 'aligned' and, in many cases, have indicated concerns with the initiative. However, they do note (usually on their websites) where/how their materials - as written - correlate with aspects of the CCS/NGSS/C3. In other words, they 'appear to be acknowledging where they [match] the CCS/NGSS/C3, but did not...[actually] change to align.'" Readers should be sure to check the Common Core Project for further explanatory information.

Coincidentally Connected:

These resources have what we call a "coincidental connection" to common core. "In most cases, the publishers have indicated a strong commitment to educational independence from the CCS/NGSS/C3 initiative. But they offer 'package' programs (i.e., instruction in multiple subjects) that incorporate some aligned material from other publishers (in addition to many unaligned resources)." Readers should be sure to check the Common Core Project for further explanatory information.

Explicitly Aligned:

These resources are explicitly aligned with common core. "Some have made relatively small changes, and others have completely overhauled their products (or were even initially created based on the initiative). However, in all cases, conscious content changes were made to accommodate the CCS/NGSS/C3."

If the last column includes a hyperlink, that means there is an explanatory note about the resource on the Common Core Project. Readers should be sure to check that information.

Other & Awaiting a Response:

A resource listed as OTH "either needs more time to formulate an official response, has indicated that it will only share its position with individual parents, is not interested in sharing its view at all, or did not respond after many attempts to elicit a reply."
